FIRST ALERT: Heat and Humidity Levels on the Rise

FIRST ALERT: Heat and Humidity Levels on the Rise

Myrtle Beach Braces for August Weather

The low humidity and unseasonably cool weather observed last week in Myrtle Beach have made way for the more typical August weather expected to persist through the Labor Day Weekend.

Tonight

The rising humidity, coupled with light winds, will likely result in the development of fog overnight. This fog can become widespread and potentially dense by early Tuesday morning. Commuters should remain vigilant as visibilities are expected to be reduced for Tuesday’s morning commute. Temperatures are projected to fall into the upper 60s and lower 70s overnight.

Tuesday

As the day advances, the morning fog will subside, giving way to increasing sunlight from mid to late morning. The sunny weather is expected to persist for the rest of the day. Increasing heat accompanies this weather shift, with afternoon temperatures in the middle to upper 80s near the beach and around 90 inland.

The Rest of The Week

The classic “Dog Days of Summer” weather pattern will settle in for the remainder of the week. This stagnant weather pattern features daily temperatures ranging in the 80s and lower 90s. Nights are predicted to be mild and muggy, with temperatures in the 70s and periods of fog at times. As the humidity increases during the week, the heat index is expected to approach or slightly exceed 100 every afternoon.

Labor Day Weekend

The warm and serene weather pattern will persist into the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. Afternoon temperatures are expected to continue their climb into the 80s and approach 90 each day. Due to increased humidity and the proximity of a weak front, the possibility of a stray storm or two cannot be ruled out. Chances of an afternoon or evening storm will gradually increase to 20 to 30% at times.
