In the heart of Myrtle Beach, a ceaseless celebration of music brightened up the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion on Saturday. The sixth annual Myrtle Beach Waves of Praise Gospel Festival made its presence felt, filling the air with melodious tunes and exhilarating rhythms, all in the name of good, wholesome family entertainment. The free-admission festival kicked off on Friday night and continued through the weekend.
Adding star power to the event was three-time Grammy Award-winning artist, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, who was the headline act for this year’s festival. Blessed with an astounding voice, Leonard enthralled the audience with her soulful performance.
An Event Promoter for the festival, Reggie Dyson, detailed the manifold activities available at the event, emphasizing its family-friendly nature. “We have arts and crafts, vendors, as well as different food trucks, a lot of information that is vast information for the public, so it’s something for the entire family, as well as singing. We have singing for the young people, middle-aged people, and the older people, so it’s a family affair, we have something for everybody,” said Dyson.
While the festival served as a platform for expressing and experiencing cultural richness, it also reinforced a sense of community, and goodwill. Though admission was free, attendees were encouraged to bring nonperishable food items. These contributions were collected and will be distributed to support local food banks, connecting the joyous event to a meaningful cause.
Providing a robust platform for gospel music expression, over 25 national and regional artists graced the stage to deliver riveting performances. Each artist added a unique flair and contributed to the dynamic mood of the festival, creating an overall surreal atmosphere of harmony.
All in all, the Waves of Praise Gospel Festival beautifully illustrated the power of music in uniting people and underlined the spirit of giving. It was nothing short of an enchanting day in Myrtle Beach, marked by rhythm and resonance, family fun, and community goodwill. This setting of joy, harmony, and charity are what make the Myrtle Beach Waves of Praise such an anticipated fest year after year.
