Goodbye Summer: Myrtle Beach Embraces the Arrival of Fall

Goodbye Summer: Myrtle Beach Prepares for Fall

Hey there, Myrtle Beach! As August wraps up and we bid adieu to summer 2024, it’s time to switch gears and look ahead to the fall season. With the sun setting on the vacation season, many local favorites are preparing to hang up their hats for a while. It’s bittersweet, for sure, but let’s dive into what to expect as we transition into autumn along the stunning Grand Strand.

Amusement Parks Say Goodbye for Now

If you’re a fan of thrills and splashes, you might want to make your way to Family Kingdom Amusement Park before the weekend of September 6, when they plan to close for the season. Unfortunately, Myrtle Waves Water Park has already bid farewell for the year, closing its gates on September 2. But don’t fret too much! If you’re still in the mood for fun, The FunPlex will remain open until September 16, giving you just a little more time to enjoy some rides before the cooler weather sets in.

Shifting Hours and New Trends

As we wave goodbye to the majority of summertime fun, some businesses are adapting their hours to better suit the upcoming fall months. Over at Myrtle Beach Family Golf, which runs the beloved miniature golf courses like Jurassic Golf and Jungle Safari, you can expect some changes in operation hours. Meanwhile, restaurants are tweaking their schedules too—take a note that Preston’s Seafood & Country Restaurant will now be opening at 4 p.m. instead of their busy lunch hours. It’s all about making sure they can meet the needs of the community and visitors alike!

What’s Different This Year?

It’s interesting to see how Myrtle Beach has evolved. In past years, many tourism-based businesses would shut down entirely during the slow winter months, but things are shifting! With the growth of year-round visitors flooding into our beautiful beach town, many local businesses are now planning to stay open. Diane Charno, a representative from the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, noted that this transformation signifies a movement toward a year-round economy, which is fantastic news for the community and visitors who want to experience Myrtle Beach beyond the summer rush. Yes, some places will temporarily close, but we are also seeing others adjusting their hours and even staffing to cater to all the fun-seekers.

End of Water Parks, but Not All Outdoor Fun

While the water parks like Myrtle Waves have closed up shop until next summer, there’s still excitement on the horizon! The Broadway Grand Prix Family Race Track, for example, will continue to operate until the end of 2024, so buckle up and get ready for some racing fun! It’s great to know that even with the changing seasons, there’s still laughter and joy to be had in Myrtle Beach.

Let’s Embrace the Fall Together!

While it’s always a bit sad to see summer attractions closing, Myrtle Beach has so much to offer for every season. Whether it’s enjoying outdoor concerts, playing a round of mini-golf, or trying out the last taste of summer seafood at your favorite restaurant, let’s soak in all that Myrtle Beach has to offer as we transition into fall. Here’s to cozy sweaters, crunchy leaves, and plenty of new memories to make!
