North Myrtle Beach’s Gail Bliss Shines on NBC’s “The Voice”

North Myrtle Beach Welcomes One of its Own to “The Voice”

North Myrtle Beach has something to celebrate! Our very own Gail Bliss, a 61-year-old flight attendant from Little River, made waves on the latest season of NBC’s “The Voice.” You might have caught her on the second part of the Blind Auditions, donning a sparkle in her eye, a stunning performance, and oh yes, a Snoop Dogg necklace!

Who Knew Snoop Dogg Could Be So Sweet?

Before she stepped into the spotlight, Gail was just like any of us: a little unsure about the famous D-O-double-G himself. “I literally knew nothing about him,” she chuckled. But when the man himself turned his chair for her after her dazzling rendition of The SteelDrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been For Love,” her heart must have done a happy little dance! “I’m the happiest girl in the world right now,” she exclaimed, showcasing her new neck bling, which she found out is what Snoop calls his ‘drip.’ Who says you can’t learn new things at 61?

A Journey Into the Spotlight

Gail’s journey on “The Voice” wasn’t without its twists and turns. She openly admitted that her performance wasn’t her “best vocal day,” and when the judges didn’t spin their chairs at first, she was ready to bow out gracefully. “I was resigned to the fact that nobody turned, so I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s let these kids have their chance,’” she said.

But then Snoop dropped the bombshell, talking about the spirit of his Auntie Gail and how she meant dear to him. Before she knew it, her world flipped when he pressed that magical red button, bringing her back into the competition! “I was jumping around like a hyena on steroids,” she said, bursting with joy and relieved laughter.

Living Life Without Regrets

For Gail, this endeavor on national television is about more than just singing. It’s also a mission to inspire those of us in the golden years to keep pursuing our dreams. After turning 60, she made it one of her birthday goals to audition for “The Voice.” “If nothing else, I want to inspire the older folks to keep dreaming, keep living, keep having fun,” she declared passionately. We couldn’t agree more!

Onward to Battle Rounds!

Gail is now gearing up for the battle stage of “The Voice,” where she’ll have to sing alongside another artist. With a heart full of courage and newfound respect for her coach Snoop Dogg (who knew he was more than just rap?), she’s ready to give it her all. “I thought (rap) was all he had done,” she said, laughing at her earlier ignorance. “Turns out he’s collaborated with Martha Stewart and even traveled to Brazil with Pharrell Williams!”

A Community to Rally Behind

As Myrtle Beach residents, we should rally behind Gail as she continues this exciting journey. Whether you’re a fan of heartfelt country tunes or simply love witnessing our local stars shine, this season of “The Voice” is proving to be one for the books. So grab your friends and tune in, because you won’t want to miss out on seeing our own Gail Bliss shine on that national stage!

No matter what happens next, we’re cheering you on, Gail! The Grand Strand couldn’t be more proud!
