NORTH MYRTLE BEACH: Gail Bliss Is Just Getting Started After “The Voice”
It’s a sunny day in North Myrtle Beach, and there’s a buzz in the air as local talent Gail Bliss reflects on her recent journey on NBC’s talent show, The Voice. Though her run concluded last month, she’s anything but ready to pack it in! “Now it’s time to be moving on to the next thing,” Bliss declared with a cheerful smile. At the vibrant age of 61, she made waves during Season 26 of the competition and found herself on the team of none other than the iconic rapper and entrepreneur, Snoop Dogg.
The Journey on “The Voice”
Gail’s journey started with the blind auditions, where contestants are judged solely on their voices and not their looks. She progressed all the way to the battle rounds, a feat that shows her undeniable talent. Unfortunately, the journey ended for Gail as the judges decided to move forward with her singing partner, Christina Eagle, instead. Despite this setback, Bliss and Eagle formed a strong bond, one that’s hard to ignore, especially with a 37-year age difference! Their duet caught the attention of fans and even led to comparisons with the legendary country duo, The Judds. “We felt it from the beginning – the first time running the song. I liked the comparison,” Bliss shared, radiating pride.
Friendships and Memories Made
Amidst the competition, Gail embraced her role as “Mama Gail,” providing support and wisdom to her fellow contestants. “I found that to be a huge compliment,” she admitted, reflecting on the warmth and camaraderie she built during her time on the show. Snoop Dogg himself complimented the chemistry of the two performers while admitting that choosing between them was “going to break [his] heart.” How sweet of him!
What’s Next for This Talented Star?
So, what lies ahead for the talented diva? Bliss is not stepping back from the spotlight just yet! “There’s nothing like getting on that stage,” she beamed, expressing her passion for performing. One of her exciting projects includes a holiday album, “Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star,” which she hopes to promote more following her exposure on The Voice. “I didn’t really plan as much as I needed to on marketing,” she confessed, but she’s determined to turn things around.
Another feather in her cap is the second annual “Gail Bliss and the Nashville Barn Dance,” set to take place in February at the Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre. This exciting event will feature feel-good country music, along with fun elements such as cloggers and shag dancers. Plus, who knows? She might even invite some of her fellow contestants from The Voice to join the party!
Keeping It Thriving
Besides her musical dreams, Bliss is a flight attendant for American Airlines. Talk about balancing talents! Her career takes her around the globe, giving her ample opportunities to combine her love for travel with her singing passion. “I’m excited I got onto the show. I never really thought one thing would lead to the other,” she said, reflecting on this whirlwind experience.
A Bright Future Ahead
Bliss isn’t planning to slow down anytime soon. As she gears up for more music, she’s also looking into the possibility of acting as an extra in a movie. Can you imagine? A multifaceted star like her lighting up the big screen!
With her vibrant spirit and infectious positivity, it’s clear that Gail Bliss is just getting warmed up. “I’m not stopping singing by any means, and I’m not stopping flying,” she states resolutely. The world is her stage, and we can’t wait to see where she goes next!
