What a fantastic way to kick off the outdoor season! The sun was shining and energy was in the air as the Franklin & Marshall women’s track and field team hit the ground running at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on March 15, 2025. This lively event took place in picturesque Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where schools from various NCAA divisions came together for a day full of thrilling competition and amazing performances.

Record-Setting Steeplechase Performers

The highlight of the day came from the team’s spectacular showing in the steeplechase event, where the Diplomats really made a splash. The team collected the most points in this challenging race, showcasing their training and determination. Leading the charge was Katie Scott, who finished a stellar fourth with a time of 11:53.16. This impressive feat not only secured her a top spot in the event but also landed her the title of the second-best steeplechase time in F&M history. To add to her accolades, that time now ranks as the 10th-best in Division III across the nation!

Hot on her heels was Tara Silverman, who placed seventh with a solid finish time of 12:17.93. Her performance isn’t just a personal victory but also marks the sixth-best in the program’s history and slots her at the 20th position in Division III. Clearly, the steeplechase team knows how to make waves!

Pole Vault and Hurdles Take Center Stage

The excitement didn’t stop there—Hayden Adams showcased her versatility in the pole vault, finishing seventh after clearing an impressive 2.85 meters. This accomplishment puts her firmly in the record books with the sixth-best performance in school history. Adding to her portfolio, Adams also led the team with the fastest time in the 100 hurdles, finishing in a respectable 17.49 seconds. Talk about a busy day!

Long Jumps and Distance Dreams

Meanwhile, Amanda Imhauser aimed for the skies in the long jump, landing a distance of 4.75 meters, which earned her a commendable 32nd place finish. And let’s not forget about the distance races, where Hana Hyman impressed with her 15th place finish in the 3,000 meters, clocking in at 11:40.59. Annalise Kauffman also showed her grit in the 5,000 meters, leading the team with a time of 19:18.65, while Jordyn Collie trailed closely behind at 19:32.81.

Sprinting Through the Competition

As if that wasn’t enough action for one day, Emily Jones took the lead in the 1,500 meters with a strong performance of 5:14.79. Bella Johnson, on the other hand, sped through the competition as the fastest F&M sprinter, crossing the finish line in the 200 meters with a swift time of 27.02 seconds. Clearly, speed is in the DNA of this thriving team!

What’s Next for the Diplomats?

With such a strong start to their outdoor season, one can only imagine what else is in store for the Diplomats. Up next, the Little Three Meet promises to keep the momentum going, with exciting events lined up. The hammer throw event is slated to take place at Gettysburg on Saturday, March 22, with other thrilling activities happening at Dickinson the following day, March 23.
