Florida State Women’s Golf Team Shines Bright at Briar’s Creek Invitational

Golf fans, gather around! The Florida State Seminoles women’s golf team has shown us once again why they’re a force to be reckoned with. At the recent Briar’s Creek Invitational, they didn’t just participate—they dominated the competition, capturing first place and top individual honors in a display that has left many gushing.

Mirabel Ting Takes the Crown

Leading the charge for the Seminoles was none other than Mirabel Ting, who dazzled everyone with a remarkable final score of 11-under par (133). Ting stormed through the course, carding two stellar rounds of 67 and 66. Her performance was nothing short of spectacular, placing her a whopping five shots ahead of her nearest rival, Purdue’s Jasmine Kahler, who ended the tournament at 6-under par.

Team Efforts That Can’t Be Overlooked

The Seminoles didn’t stop there! Lottie Woad, who recently earned the title of the top-ranked female golfer in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women’s Rankings, finished strongly in third place with a score of 5-under par (139). Both Woad and Ting displayed incredible teamwork, especially considering the Seminoles notched up an impressive three eagles and an eye-popping 32 birdies throughout the tournament—both setting records for the event.

Another notable performance came from Sophia Fullbrook, who wrapped up her time on the course with a solid 17th-place finish. Meanwhile, Alexandra Gazzoli put forth an impressive effort as an individual competitor, clinching a spot in the top ten with a ninth-place finish. These strong contributions made it clear that the Seminoles are a well-rounded team with depth and talent.

Weather Interrupts Final Round

As fate would have it, the event met some anticipated challenges. The final round of the tournament had to be called off due to inclement weather. But what’s a little rain when you’re already sitting pretty at the top, right?

A String of Victories

This is not merely an isolated victory, folks. The Florida State Seminoles have been on quite the roll, capturing team and individual titles in four consecutive tournaments. Their winning streak kicked off at the Landfall Tradition in October, where Woad took the crown. Then, Ting followed shortly with a win at the Guadalajara Collegiate in January, only to have Woad shine again at the Moon Invitational in February. And now, look at Ting’s back-to-back win at the Briar’s Creek Invitational!

It’s noteworthy that Ting’s two victories this season have propelled her to a third-place ranking for the season according to Clippd’s college golf rankings, closely followed by Woad, who is ranked sixth.

On the Road Again

So what’s next for our Seminoles? They’re gearing up to compete at the Old Barnwell Match Play in Aiken, South Carolina. If they maintain this momentum, there’s a very real chance they could clinch their fifth consecutive tournament win. Golf enthusiasts everywhere are eager to see if this powerhouse team can keep the winning streak alive!

Stay tuned, everyone, because this Florida State Women’s Golf Team is on fire, and they’re not letting up anytime soon!
