In a stunning development, it has come to light that the father of an 18-year-old accused in a deadly Myrtle Beach shooting has also been arrested recently. Gary Jaquise Abraham, the 18-year-old suspect from Aiken, is facing significant charges relating to a homicide that left a 16-year-old dead and others injured.
Abraham, the young shooter, stands accused in the murder of Jakolbi Taylor, a 16-year-old resident of Virginia. The unfortunate shootout reportedly took place at the 16th Avenue North beach access, last July 20. It’s noted that Taylor was in town for an AAU basketball tournament at the time of his death.
Following his son’s act, Gary Ulysses Abraham, the father of the shooter, was arrested in Aiken on July 27. His arrest coincided with the day when Myrtle Beach police officially announced the arrest of a suspect in the case.
Investigations revealed that a search warrant was executed on the house of the senior Abraham. The search led to the discovery of an illegal AR-style rifle that had reportedly been stolen, along with a haul of narcotics including cocaine and marijuana.
Following the findings of the search warrant, Gary Ulysses Abraham now faces multiple severe charges, including possession of a stolen firearm, unlawfully possessing a weapon during the occurrence of a violent crime, cocaine trafficking, and an intention to distribute marijuana.
As per the available court records, the senior Abraham has managed to post a bond amount of $75,000 on July 28, securing his release from remand.
The dual arrests of father and son, both involved in serious criminal activities, represent a disturbing case of domestic crime. As authorities press on with collecting evidence and building their case, further information will undoubtedly continue to emerge. Presently, both the Abrahams are facing severe charges with potential long-term sentences if found guilty.
As always, it is important to remember that these men are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Here, the law must take its course, backed by irrefutable evidence. It is a significant reminder for all that an act of violence not only impacts the victims but can reverberate through families and communities.
