Myrtle Beach Welcomes Fall with Open Arms!
Well folks, autumn is finally creeping into Myrtle Beach, and it’s like standing in front of your favorite warm cup of cider – cozy and inviting! The cool front has rolled in from the north, giving us some delightful weather to enjoy all the fun fall activities coming up. With highs dipping into the 60s on October 15, 16, and 17, and the 70s for most of the other days, what better time to dive into some local fall festivities?
Thompson Farm and Nursery: A Family Adventure
First up, let’s talk about Thompson Farm and Nursery in Conway, just a short drive away. This place turns into an absolute autumn wonderland for families, running through the first weekend of November. One of the biggest attractions is their 6-acre corn maze. You can lose yourself in it – but we recommend keeping one eye on the kids! There are also some adorable farm animals to meet, a giant corn box for the little ones to play in, and no trip is complete without a fun barrel cart ride.
And because we’re loving the spooky season, the farm rolls out Halloween movies on Fridays under the stars. Mark your calendar for The Haunted Mansion on October 18, and don’t miss Hocus Pocus on October 25. Sounds like a great spot for a family outing, right? The farm is open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with tickets priced at $15 plus a teensy service fee.
Southern Palmetto Farms: Pumpkins and Pig Races
Next, we’re heading over to Southern Palmetto Farms in Aynor, where you can enjoy a classic pumpkin patch that’s open all through October. They have a corn maze to explore too, and you can hop on a wagon ride while you’re at it. And here’s the kicker – how about some pig racing? Yes, you read that right! Pigs race at 12:30, 2:30, and 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are only $12 to enter, with a $5 add-on to visit Miss Em’s Magical Pumpkin Patch. Now that’s a blast!
Downtown Conway: Halloween Spookiness
If you’re looking for something a bit more spooky, check out downtown Conway, which has embraced the Halloween spirit like never before! The place is decorated to the nines with hundreds of skeletons and all kinds of creepy critters. You can stroll around and marvel at fun sights like a haunted pirate ship right in the city harbor, a tunnel of bones, and even a magical garden RUN. It’s all set up for you to explore at your own pace since the displays are out and visible 24/7.
Local businesses have joined in on the fun too, decking their shops and restaurants in festive decorations. It’s a great excuse to wander around downtown, grab a bite, and soak in those autumn vibes!
Farmers’ Markets: Fresh Fall Produce
Not everyone is up for wandering through rows of pumpkins, and that’s totally okay! If you’d rather keep it simple, why not stop by one of our local farmers’ markets? You can find a whole array of seasonal goodies like gourds, apples, leafy greens like arugula and lettuce, and even muscadine grapes. It’s a perfect way to enjoy what the season has to offer without all the fuss.
