If you’re in the Myrtle Beach area or familiar with the charming town of Murrells Inlet, you might want to lend an ear (or eye!) to what’s happening with the local real estate scene. Rumor has it that a beloved spot, the Inlet Oaks Assisted Living facility, is up for sale! This cozy establishment located at 12287 S.C. Highway 707 made its debut on the commercial real estate platform LoopNet in September 2024, and folks are buzzing about what this could mean for our community.
While the asking price hasn’t been publicly listed (hey, real estate agents do love their secrets!), the buzz is that this property has quite the history. According to Horry County Land Records, it last changed hands back in 2014 for a cool $630,000. Fast forward to now, and its current market value is pegged at a whopping $8.7 million for nearly seven acres of prime land. That’s some serious growth!
However, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Inlet Oaks. The facility faced a bit of controversy in 2023 when there were hiccups with a license renewal. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) withheld their renewal because the owners missed the deadline for the application. But fear not! Things have a way of working out. Following some back-and-forth with the needed paperwork, SCDHEC ultimately agreed to grant a license and rescinded its original denial.
The plot thickens! In March 2024, the Department of Public Health received an application for an amended license due to a change of ownership for Inlet Oaks. It looks like new beginnings might be just around the corner, though we’re still waiting for the final word as this application is still pending. Change can be exciting, and we are curious about what a fresh set of owners could bring to the table!
So, what does this all mean for Murrells Inlet? An assisted living facility up for grabs opens a lot of opportunities. Whether it continues with the same model or transforms into something entirely different, the future is bright! The community will be watching closely for updates on this property and what it means for our seniors and their families.
Inlet Oaks has been a pillar for many local families, offering care and community for those in need. We can only hope that whatever happens next respects the heart and soul of this facility. Will it remain as is, maybe with a few improvements, or will new ownership decide to revamp the whole experience? Only time will tell!
Myrtle Beach and its surrounding areas are known for their hospitality, warmth, and community spirit, and we’re all rooting for the best outcome possible. Whether you’re a local or just love to visit our beautiful coast, we believe change can be a good thing, especially when it comes to caring for our seniors.
So, keep your ears open and your eyes peeled, folks! The real estate scene around Murrells Inlet is alive and kicking, and who knows what will unfold next!
