Freshman Eila Galitsky has triumphed at the 2025 Moon Golf Invitational, overcoming world No. 1 Lottie Woad in a thrilling playoff. Her scores of 72, 70, and a career-low 69 secured her individual title. Meanwhile, Florida State clinched the team championship. The event showcased exceptional talent and points to a bright future for Galitsky and South Carolina golf.
In an exciting display of talent, freshman sensation Eila Galitsky from South Carolina has clinched the title at the 2025 Moon Golf Invitational. In a nail-biting finish, Galitsky managed to overcome world No. 1 Lottie Woad from Florida State on the very first playoff hole, securing her place as a rising star in the golfing world. With a total score of 211 (-5) over three rounds, Galitsky’s scores of 72, 70, and a stunning career-low 69 showcased her exceptional skills.
Galitsky’s final round was nothing short of spectacular, as she shot a 69 (-3) that included back-to-back birdies at holes 15 and 16 — moments that must have sent her team and fans into a frenzy! This fresh-faced golfer is certainly making her mark, capturing the attention of golf enthusiasts everywhere.
While Galitsky took the spotlight as an individual champion, the team battle was just as intense! Florida State emerged victorious in the team title race, finishing as the only school to end the tournament under par. Their final score of 862 (-2) put them ahead, followed closely by Wake Forest at 865 (+1) and South Carolina at 866 (+2). This competition featured some fierce talent, with 11 teams from the top-25 in attendance.
Augusta’s squad had a tough outing; with Sara Adams finishing in 44th place, her score of one-over 73 included a bogey on the final hole that dashed hopes for a higher standing. Notably, Zoe Pinillos showcased improvement by posting her lowest round of the year with a 73, a six-shot improvement from her previous round. Jessica Pilgrim also had her best showing of the season with a 77, while Marine Legentil contributed a solid 78.
South Carolina’s senior All-American, Hannah Darling, made headlines by climbing an impressive 48 spots to finish T-14th after two under-par rounds of 70 in the second and third rounds. With six events this season under her belt, Darling has finished in the top-15 every single time, marking an impressive total of 28 career top-20 finishes!
Excitingly, this tournament marked South Carolina’s return to the Moon Golf Invitational since spring 2021-2022, where they ranked fourth nationally for the event. Their strong performance, especially with standouts like Galitsky and Darling, should set a positive tone for the team’s upcoming events.
After this thrilling tournament, South Carolina now has a little break before they host the anticipated Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. This upcoming event will be a formidable challenge, featuring 13 of the top 17 teams in national rankings. With such fierce competition on the horizon, golf fans will surely be eager to see how the athletes perform!
