In the charming community of Little River, South Carolina, residents are facing an unsettling new trend as reports of stolen Dodge Chargers and Challengers have begun to circulate. The picturesque neighborhood is feeling a chill in the air, and it’s not just because of the dropping temperatures. It all started when local resident, Scott Chairs, reported that his neighbor’s prized possession—a shiny 2020 SRT Scat Pack Charger—was snatched right from their driveway!
Scott Chairs, with an impressive 30-year career in law enforcement, shared the shocking details. “Two weeks ago, on last Wednesday night, someone slipped into the neighborhood and targeted my neighbor’s car,” he stated, his voice thick with concern. “They broke in and drove off with it just like that, right from the driveway.”
How brazen! But that’s not all. Thanks to his home security cameras, Scott has actual footage of the crime unfolding under the cover of darkness. “Around 11:30 PM, you can see them trying to break into the car,” he explained. “One of my neighbors turned on their motion lights, and they quickly got back into their vehicle to make a run for it. But they came back around 2:20 AM and nabbed the Charger,” Chairs recounted, shaking his head in disbelief.
So what exactly is drawing the attention of these thieves? According to Scott, it’s all about the engine. Dodge Chargers and Challengers are notorious for being some of the most stolen cars in the country. Their powerful engines can be dismantled and sold for big money.
Scott passionately emphasized the need for heightened awareness among owners of these coveted cars. “If you’re driving one of these vehicles, you really need to be on guard. Watch for anyone shadowing you home,” he cautioned, giving much-needed advice to fellow car owners in the area.
Meanwhile, the local police in Horry County are stepping up to address the community’s fears. They have stated they are not aware of a specific uptick in Charger thefts but still urge everyone to lock their vehicles and promptly report any incidents. Prompt reporting is crucial and helps law enforcement facilitate swift investigations, allowing them to crack down on car thefts more effectively.
If you own a Dodge Charger or Challenger, it might be a good idea to take a few extra precautions, just to be safe. Here are a few tips to keep your vehicle secure:
While the weather might be turning colder, we can’t afford to let our guard down against car thieves. As the Little River community rallies together, it’s important to stay informed and vigilant. After all, a little extra caution can go a long way in keeping our beautiful neighborhood safe. So, watch out, keep those engines safe, and let’s make sure our rides stay right where they belong—at home!
