What a lovely time of year it is in Conway, South Carolina! The city has officially kicked off the holiday season with a dazzling Christmas tree lighting event that took place on December 5, 2024. This year, the festive celebration was held at the bustling intersection of Main Street and 3rd Avenue, which was wonderfully decorated for the occasion.
Residents turned out in droves, their faces aglow with excitement as they welcomed the holiday spirit. The sight of the tall, sparkling Christmas tree was nothing short of magical, becoming a beautiful centerpiece for the evening’s events. Families, friends, and neighbors gathered to enjoy hot cocoa, festive snacks, and the delightful sounds of holiday music filled the air.
No holiday celebration is complete without the big man in red! Santa Claus made a special appearance at the tree lighting event, bringing cheer and joy to children and adults alike. The twinkle in the children’s eyes as they waved at Santa created a heartwarming atmosphere that truly embodied the spirit of the season. For those unable to attend, videos of this joyous occasion can be found online, capturing the essence of the evening and the smiles shared by attendees.
In addition to the dazzling tree lighting, the city has put efforts into spreading holiday cheer throughout Conway. Many local businesses decorated their storefronts, inviting shoppers to indulge in their holiday purchases. It’s a fantastic time for residents to come together, support one another, and enjoy the warmth of community spirit as they exchange gifts and share meals.
This holiday season brought its fair share of weather challenges, but Booth’s Christmas Tree Farm proved resilient. Although Tropical Storm Helen did not cause any disruptions related to tree acquisition, another storm, Tropical Storm Debbie, did impact the farm’s low-lying areas. As a result, the farm experienced a loss of approximately two to three hundred trees. Nonetheless, this season turned out to be significantly better than the previous one, highlighting the farm’s ability to bounce back.
After having some trees left over from the last season, Booth’s Tree Farm successfully sold every last one of their stocked trees this year! In a move demonstrating their adaptability, they also found two nearby sources to procure additional trees for resale, ensuring that every holiday shopper was satisfied. Co-owner Haley Booth is already brimming with enthusiasm for next year’s festivities, demonstrating the spirit of perseverance that characterizes the Booth family and their commitment to the community.
As Conway prepares for the coming holiday months, it’s heartwarming to see the community come alive with cheerful events from tree lighting to tree farms. Gatherings like these create a warm and inviting atmosphere in which everyone can partake in the festive spirit. With another successful season behind us, the excitement for next year’s celebrations is sure to be lively!
