Conway is buzzing with enthusiasm as exciting news unfolds about the iconic Coastal Centre. This once-thriving shopping hub, located right at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 501 and 16th Avenue, is gearing up for a fresh start under new ownership.
Rise Partners, a commercial real estate firm with a track record of revitalizing shopping centers, has recently announced that they have closed on the Coastal Centre. This comes as a breath of fresh air for many residents who have seen the center decline over recent years, especially with the vacant spaces left by the former Kmart, which closed its doors back in 2017. Many locals feared for the future of the area, but now it looks like the tables are turning!
City Administrator Adam Emrick expressed the city’s optimism, stating, “The site is crucial for the city. It is the center of the city and holds the largest concentration of big box retail. We need more retail options for our residents.” How refreshing to hear that the city is invested in bringing life back to this central hub!
So what’s next? Well, Rise Partners is set to roll out their plans soon, which has everyone speculating about what exciting new stores might make their way to Coastal Centre. Earlier this year, when the center was still under the management of Gator Investments, there were talks of bringing names like Ulta Beauty, Marshalls, and Michael’s to the shopping center. Now, it remains to be seen which stores will join the Coastal Centre family. Who knows? Maybe we’ll be welcoming even more new favorites!
Officials from Conway are hopeful that Rise Partners will not only fill the empty spots but also offer diverse options for shopping, dining, and leisure. Emrick noted that, “Empty buildings invite trouble and decay,” reinforcing the need for revitalization not just for aesthetics, but for public safety too.
The announcement about Coastal Centre redevelopment comes as Conway’s city leaders mull over the possibility of annexing areas for a new shopping center on the eastern border that could feature restaurants, offices, a home improvement supercenter, and hundreds of apartments. Can you imagine all of these options? Conway is really carving out its identity as a shopping destination!
If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably felt the need for more local options. From weekend shopping sprees to family dinners, it’s nice to have plenty to choose from. Rise Partners aims to provide just that, creating a vibrant community space where everyone feels welcome and included.
And speaking of welcoming, if you’re planning a trip to check out the Coastal Centre now may be a great time to visit! The weather is just perfect! With highs around 81°F, light winds coming from the west-southwest, and partly cloudy skies, it’s a delightful day to stroll through the current shops or grab a slice at Pizza Hut. Who doesn’t love a good pizza? The slight chance of rain shouldn’t deter anyone, especially with such beautiful temperatures on the horizon.
As this redevelopment unfolds, we can’t wait to share more updates with you. Whether it means new shopping experiences, fun dining options, or just a lovely space to hang out, it’s clear that Conway aims to keep growing and thriving. It’s an exciting time for all of us here, and we’re looking forward to what’s next for the Coastal Centre!
