Myrtle Beach’s Coastal Carolina University Surpasses 11,000 Enrollment Milestone

Myrtle Beach’s Coastal Carolina University Hits New Enrollment Milestone

Hey Myrtle Beach! Have you heard the exciting news from our very own Coastal Carolina University? The buzz around the campus is real, and it’s all about rising enrollment numbers that are about to break new records! As we dive into this new semester, CCU is gearing up to welcome over 11,000 students for the first time in history. That’s right—this fall marks a turning point in the university’s journey!

During the CCU Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, October 17, the university’s Vice President for Enrollment Management, Amanda Craddock, announced this thrilling milestone. She emphasized that our school’s growing continuing student enrollment is playing a major role in this increase. It’s wonderful to see so many students sticking around and making the most of their time at Coastal!

While the final numbers are still being crunched, estimates show that enrollment is expected to jump by about 500 students compared to last fall’s count of 10,829. That’s fantastic news, especially considering how beloved our Teal Nation has become!

Thanks to Everyone Involved!

Hats off to CCU’s admissions office for working tirelessly to recruit more students, but that’s not all—CCU’s student success staff and faculty are also instrumental in keeping students engaged and encouraging them to keep coming back year after year. Provost Gibbs Knotts mentioned that more students are taking advantage of resources like tutoring, academic coaching, and one-on-one faculty interactions aimed at helping them succeed in their studies. It really takes a village, doesn’t it?

Freshman Numbers Look a Little Different

Now, while we’re celebrating the overall enrollment success, it’s worth noting that freshman enrollment isn’t quite keeping pace. This year, it’s expected to dip by around 3.4%, snapping what had been a happy three-year streak of record first-year enrollments. Craddock pointed out that while the numbers of in-state first-year students still grew, there was a slight drop in new out-of-state students. But there’s still optimism on the horizon!

The good news? Applications for first-year students for the fall of 2025 are already up by about 5% to 6% compared to last year, with over 6,200 applications received so far. It looks like the word is spreading fast, and people can’t stop talking about the amazing opportunities here at Coastal!

The Future Looks Bright

As for graduate students, there’s good news on that front too—enrollment has also seen a boost of 3.5% with 18 more candidates stepping up to continue their education. Coastal Carolina University is truly a place where dreams take flight, and with such a thriving community, it’s no wonder why so many are eager to be a part of it.

In conclusion, Myrtle Beach, let’s celebrate what’s happening at CCU! Whether you’re a current student, an alumnus, or just someone who loves our vibrant community, this news should make you proud. With more students embracing the experience here and taking advantage of the amazing resources that CCU offers, the future looks brighter than ever. Here’s to the Teal Nation’s growth and success!
