Chilly Days Ahead for Myrtle Beach Residents

Residents of Myrtle Beach, SC, brace yourselves! The weather is getting a serious chill as cold air makes its way into the region, and it doesn’t look like it’s leaving anytime soon. As we head through Friday, we can expect some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen so far this season. So grab your cozy blankets and warm drinks because this winter weather is upon us!

Tonight’s Temperature Dive

As night falls, temperatures will take a nosedive, plunging quickly into the 30s across all areas. In the Pee Dee region, folks can expect temperatures to dip down into the lower 30s, and there’s a chance that a few isolated spots might even touch the freezing mark! Meanwhile, those hanging out by the beach won’t escape the chill either, as temps there will drop into the upper 30s.

Even though we’re facing these chilly temperatures, a lingering breeze of 5 to 10 mph is sticking around, making it feel even colder. So, when you step outside tonight, don’t forget to check the wind chill factor, which could drop things down into the upper 20s to near 30. That means bundling up is the name of the game!

What to Expect on Friday

Friday rolls in, and it’s clear it won’t be a balmy day! Residents should prepare for a chilly day ahead with mostly sunny skies, but don’t let that fool you; temperatures will struggle to reach the lower to mid-50s by the afternoon. Plus, that gusty breeze we mentioned earlier is still around, adding a bit of chill to the air.

So while it might look nice outside, it’s definitely a need-to-wear-your-coat kind of day. Perfect for hot coffee runs or perhaps a cozy day indoors with your favorite movie!

Relief is on the Way for the Weekend

Now, if the cold has you feeling a bit down, there’s a silver lining in the forecast! As we move into the weekend, expect temperatures to gradually warm up a tad! Saturday will see readings around near 60 degrees, and by Sunday, we can look forward to comfy lower to mid-60s. Ah, yes, sunshine and milder temperatures are coming!

But don’t get too comfortable just yet! Despite the sunny and milder days ahead, those overnight temperatures are still going to remind us that winter is here. By Friday night, expect temps to fall back into the 30s for inland spots and closer to 40 at the beach. In addition to this, keep an eye out for patchy frost across the Pee Dee—so you might want to cover up those tender plants!

And guess what? The chilly trend will continue into Saturday night—so if you’re planning a night out, a warm coat might still be necessary!

Wrap-Up

So there you have it, Myrtle Beach! A frigid end to the week but a slight warm-up is peeking around the corner. Make sure to keep your warm clothing at hand and embrace the winter vibes while staying cozy!
