Tragedy in Cherokee County: Woman Succumbs to Injuries Days after Crash

A fatal car crash in Cherokee County, South Carolina, took another tragic turn last week when a woman, injured in the same incident, passed away from her injuries. The named victim, Detra Lamontrail Geter, age 37, succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the accident on Thursday afternoon.

Details about the Incident

The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 28th on U.S. 221A near Chesnee. Geter was driving south with her six-year-old daughter in the car when another vehicle, heading north, veered across the center line and hit Geter’s car head-on. The other driver was declared deceased at the scene.

Following the head-on collision, both Geter and her daughter were rushed to the hospital. Tragically, Geter passed away from her injuries on August 2nd, 2024, at the Spartanburg Medical Center, around 3:15 p.m.

The Condition of the Child

The condition of Geter’s six-year-old daughter, who was also in the car at the time of the accident, remains unknown at this time. Speculations are rife, and concerns for her welfare are creating additional distress amid this tragic event.

The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office confirmed that an autopsy was scheduled for the following day, August 3rd, 2024.
