Construction of a new self-storage facility underway in Carolina Forest
A new self-storage facility is under construction in Carolina Forest, following significant tree removals along Village Center Boulevard. This project is part of a broader development that includes the nearby Soho Town Center and is set to enhance the community’s offerings. Public Storage, a well-known name in self-storage, is spearheading this initiative. The facility will occupy over eight acres of land, which was recently sold for $1.8 million. This development promises to bring added convenience and vibrancy to the evolving Carolina Forest area.
Exciting things are happening in Carolina Forest as construction begins for a brand new self-storage facility! Just recently, large trees were cut down along Village Center Boulevard, right next to the Carolina Bays Medical Office Building. It’s a big change in the area, and with the trees gone, drivers whizzing by on International Drive can now easily spot the medical office building. It’s a noticeable shift in the landscape!
This tree removal marks the first step in a development project that many are eagerly awaiting. The local Horry County Land Records show that a permit for this new self-storage facility was issued back in October 2024. And just to keep things rolling, a second permit was granted earlier this year on January 8, 2025, specifically designating it as a ‘Public Storage’ site. With these permits in hand, the plans are set to transform this area!
For those who aren’t familiar, Public Storage is a well-known national self-storage company. They’ve already established their presence with existing locations in both Conway and Myrtle Beach. It seems the folks at Public Storage are keen to branch out and expand their offerings to the Carolina Forest community. This self-storage facility is going to be located on a spacious property that spans over eight acres, which was sold for a whopping $1.8 million in May 2024. That’s some serious investment right there!
But wait, there’s more happening around here! Just across from where the self-storage facility is going up, The Soho Town Center is currently under construction along International Drive. This exciting development is set to feature a two-floor restaurant along with a variety of retail spaces. With a projected cost of between $7-8 million, it’s clear that the area is becoming a bustling hub of activity.
What’s even more interesting is that the Soho Town Center will be located next to a new branch of the Anderson Brothers Bank. This adds yet another layer of convenience and vibrancy to the community. With both the self-storage facility and the commercial spaces at Soho Town Center, Carolina Forest is on the brink of some big changes that residents and visitors alike will surely notice.
It’s a fascinating time for Carolina Forest as the area gears up for new developments that promise to refresh the local landscape. Matthew Toussaint, a real estate professional associated with this project, is at the helm of the self-storage facility. While there’s been no word back from him regarding the development details, the glimpses of progress are exciting enough for the community to stay tuned!
As construction continues and things start taking shape, the changes in Carolina Forest are sure to invite curiosity and engagement from the local residents. Whether you’re in need of extra storage space or just down for some shopping and a good meal, there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months!
