Indigo Road Hospitality Group Unveils Boutique Hotel in Georgetown, South Carolina

After nearly two years of anticipation, Indigo Road Hospitality Group and Winyah Hospitality have opened their unique boutique offering, The George Hotel, in Georgetown, South Carolina. The 56-room hotel is the first of its kind on South Carolina’s Hammock Coast, offering a variety of spaces for private events, a full-service restaurant, and a marina bar.

Hotel Amenities and Unique Spaces

Guests at The George Hotel can choose to enjoy their stay in a Standard, Double, or Suite room, each uniquely decorated to reflect the charm and sophistication of the hotel. The hotel provides a wide variety of semi-private and private spaces for booking. This includes a dedicated meeting and event room, an outdoor green space known as Eliza’s, and an on-site seafood restaurant – The Independent. Eliza’s comes equipped with a full bar, lounge seating, and outdoor games, making it a dynamic and inviting spot for a multitude of social activities.

Inspired Design Elements

The design of the hotel draws inspiration from the surrounding 18th and 19th-century architecture and natural environment. Curated by Jenny Keenan Design, the hotel hosts an eclectic collection of vintage European furnishings and custom pieces that seamlessly blend in with the picturesque southern setting.

Embracing the local culture, the hotel features details like historic fabrics, mural wallpapers, paintings, and decor by local artists. Notably, works from local sweetgrass basket artisan, Angela Manigault, can also be seen around the hotel. Moreover, the lobby features two-toned hardwoods and lime-washed plank walls. These elements together create a neutral canvas which is beautifully offset by patterned sofas, wing-backed chairs, and oriental rugs. Not to mention, a corridor featuring a wallpaper by Iskel from Schumacher – ‘Birds Tapestry’, and a whimsical painting by the artist David Boatwright of Charleston.

Room Features

There are 56 guest rooms in total, each with a unique flare. A full 42 of these rooms have stunning water views. The guest rooms are accompanied by vintage seating and sideboards with custom fabric headboards featuring everything from detailed chintz to soft pastel stripes. Further contributing to the aesthetic, each room is appointed in a distinct color scheme, with options ranging from greens, blues, slates, to creams. Cypress softwoods stripe the floors and walls of communal spaces, and vintage ceramic and glass lighting fixtures add an additional touch of early American style.

The George Hotel: A New Dawn for South Carolina’s Hammock Coast

With its opening, The George Hotel brings a new level of grandeur to the getaway experience on South Carolina’s Hammock Coast. It expertly fuses southern charm with modern amenity, becoming a prime location for travelers seeking a perfect mix of relaxation and exploration.
