MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Underneath the stunning South Carolinian sky, the first ever Myrtle Beach Classic saw the recognition of nine charities eminent in their provision of social services across the region. Of these, the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina (BSMCC) earned particular acknowledgement as one of the recipients of a coveted support grant.
Founded in October 2008, the BSMCC is a chapter of the nationwide Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. This non-profit organization provides unwavering support for mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and adoptive mothers who either have children currently serving in the U.S. military, or have children who were honorably discharged.
In addition to offering each other moral and emotional aid during their children’s deployments and moments of need, these mothers extend their support to deployed and stateside troops. They are also deeply engaged with veteran’s organizations and VA facilities across the area, and keenly promote a sense of patriotism within their communities.
In its inaugural year, the highly-anticipated Myrtle Beach Classic aims to generate not only a sports spectacle for the region, but also a meaningful opportunity to support local charities. By doing so, the event offers a crucial boost to these organizations and their efforts to uplift their communities.
The Myrtle Beach Classic and its recognition of the exemplary service provided by organizations such as the BSMCC serve as a beacon of hope amid the challenges of our times. It stands as a testament to how community-oriented events can foster a spirit of unity, solidarity, and resilience among residents.
The Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina, alongside the other eight recognized non-profits, are prime examples of the power of communal action. By acknowledging their efforts on this grand stage, it is hoped that more light will be cast on these significant causes, encouraging wider support and engagement across the region.
The recognition that the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina received at the Myrtle Beach Classic highlights the essential work they do to support military families and their communities. It also underscores the broader potential of sport – not just as a form of entertainment, but as a powerful platform for promoting crucial social causes.
