National Asian Food Franchise to Open First South Carolina Location in Columbia

The acclaimed Asian food franchise based in Seattle, Teriyaki Madness, is gearing up to open its inaugural restaurant in South Carolina situated in Columbia’s thriving Five Points community. The pivotal launch is set to take place on April 12, marking a significant milestone both for the franchise and the restaurant owners, Cory Sanders and LaDon Mathews.

Bringing Seattle-Style Teriyaki to South Carolina

Teriyaki Madness, recognized for its sumptuous Seattle-style Teriyaki, has piqued the interest of food enthusiasts across the United States through its diverse range of outlets. The Five Points community, known for its vibrant culinary scene, is now set to host the brand’s first shop in South Carolina, located at 942 Harden St.

The Teriyaki Madness shop in Columbia will offer mouth-watering Teriyaki bowls teeming with a generous variety of ingredients. Ranging from all-natural marinated chicken, steak, salmon, or tofu to stir-fry veggies, the list is extensive. Food lovers also have the choice to customize their base from steamed white, brown or fried rice, or even Yakisoba noodles.

Entrepreneurial Journey of Mathews and Sanders

Sanders and Mathews have been envisioning entrepreneurship for several years. Professionally, Sanders belonged to the area of network security, serving the military and later the public sector. Simultaneously, Mathews has an impressive history of being an event planner extending over 13 years. Despite their successful professional journey, they desired to follow their entrepreneurial zeal and finally took the brave step of venturing into franchising.

The duo believes that Teriyaki Madness will bring something “new and fresh” to Columbia, with Sanders stating, “We don’t have any fresh, made to order Asian restaurants. The sauces are unique. I haven’t experienced these flavors anywhere else”. They were particularly sold to the franchise after trying its dishes at a restaurant in Charlotte.

A Grand Celebration

As part of the grand opening celebration, Mathews and Sanders are inviting locals to experience the unique flavors of Teriyaki Madness on April 12 and April 13.

Teriyaki Madness has seen rapid expansion in markets across the United States and has been named the No. 1 Fastest-Growing Big Restaurant Chain in the U.S. by Restaurant Business. The franchise currently operates over 150 shops in three countries. In this context, Michael Haith, CEO of Teriyaki Madness, commented that the opening of the Columbia location is an important step in their mission to popularize delicious teriyaki nationwide.
