MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The peaceful beach town of Myrtle Beach has recently found itself at the center of a storm after local church pastor John-Paul Miller was arrested following a heated confrontation that has left many scratching their heads and raising eyebrows about his future.
On Wednesday night, Miller, who leads Solid Rock Ministries, was taken into custody after an altercation with a female protester outside the church near the Market Common. This tense episode reportedly included some rather colorful language, earning him a third-degree assault charge. Thankfully, he was released from jail Thursday morning after posting a $776 bond. However, the drama is far from over, as he is scheduled to appear in court again on December 10 at 4:30 p.m.
The spotlight has been shining bright on John-Paul Miller ever since the tragic death of his wife, Mica Miller, earlier this year. Mica’s body was discovered at the Lumber River State Park in Robeson County in April, and although her death was ruled a suicide, the case has been marked by swirling allegations of abuse by her husband.
It’s no wonder this story has gained traction across the nation. After all, when disturbing accusations of domestic abuse emerge against an individual leading a community church, people are bound to take an interest.
The plot thickens, though! According to Conway attorney Regina Ward, who represents Mica’s family, there are whispers about potential federal charges looming over the pastor’s head. In a twist that surprised many, the investigation gained a major breakthrough just last week. The federal authorities executed a search warrant at Miller’s home on Coldwater Circle in the Azalea Lakes neighborhood.
Ward noted that authorities were spotted taking several items from the property, including boxes, a computer screen, and what seemed to be an external hard drive. It seems that the documents she provided were instrumental in securing that very search warrant. “At the end of the day, it sure is going to help this case going forward,” she voiced on Thursday.
So how does this recent assault charge affect any potential future legal troubles for Miller? Ward speculated that while the assault charge might only be a misdemeanor, it could definitely play a role if federal charges eventually materialize. The outcome of this charge could influence whether he is granted bond in any upcoming federal case against him.
“If a federal charge does come, it would depend on whether this current assault charge has been resolved,” she explained. And the stakes are high — emotions are running high in the community, and the protesters are determined to see justice served. “We’re not going away, we’re not going away, until he goes away,” Ward passionately stated.
The FBI is making a concerted effort to reach out to anyone who may have been a victim of domestic violence related to John-Paul Miller. They are urging those with information to step forward. If you or someone you know has relevant details, you can contact the FBI directly or reach out via email at justiceformicatips@gmail.com.
As the situation continues to unfold, residents in Myrtle Beach watch closely, knowing that this story is far from finished. Will the community find closure in this heartbreaking saga? Only time will tell.
