Incidents Rock Myrtle Beach: Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery
Myrtle Beach, S.C. has recently found itself in the spotlight for some not-so-great reasons. News broke about a man named Terry Heard, 44, who’s now facing some very serious charges connected to a couple of alarming incidents in Horry County.
A Shocking Robbery at Circle K
First off, let’s talk about the robbery that happened at a Circle K convenience store off George Bishop Parkway. According to reports, Heard allegedly aimed a gun at a victim and stole their keys and engagement rings before making his escape. Can you believe that? I mean, who thinks it’s okay to rob someone at gunpoint? It’s one of those things that leaves you just shaking your head.
The victim later identified Heard from a photo line-up, and warrants were issued, signaling that the law wasn’t about to let this one go unnoticed. It’s still hard to wrap my head around how some folks think they can get away with such actions, especially in our beloved Myrtle Beach.
The Concerning Shooting Incident
But that’s not where the story ends. Just recently, on September 26, there was also a reported shooting at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on South Kings Highway that Heard is being linked to. Witnesses say there was a verbal argument between the suspected shooter and the victim, which ended with the shooter firing a shot. Thankfully, it seems they missed, but it’s still pretty terrifying to think that kind of tension escalated to that point right in our community.
Authorities found both a shell casing and an unspent round in front of the store, which only adds to the weight of the situation. After the shot was fired, it’s reported that the shooter jumped into a white SUV that Heard was supposedly driving, and they sped off heading north on Kings Highway. It didn’t take long before officers tracked that vehicle down.
Detainment and the Investigation Continues
Eventually, police tracked that SUV all the way to the Bermuda Sands Hotel at 104 North Ocean Boulevard. Sounds like quite an adventure, doesn’t it? After executing a search warrant on the room, both Heard and another suspect were detained. Right now, Heard is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and has no bond, meaning he’ll be staying there for a while as this investigation unfolds.
Authorities are still trying to learn more about the other suspect involved in the shooting and the identity of the victim in the robbery. It just goes to show how sometimes our beautiful Myrtle Beach can face some challenges, and it’s crucial for us to stay alert and aware of our surroundings.
